Ranjit Thambyrajah
Founder and managing director
Ranjit started his finance career at the Commonwealth Bank of Australia in 1979. After realising that he was born to be self-employed, Ranjit started investing in property and in 1981 he became the Director of a Sydney real estate group.
In 1984 he purchased his first nursing home and within a few years had expanded the business with the acquisition of five additional facilities. During this time he established himself as a commercial finance broker and commenced helping other entrepreneurs restructure their businesses.
Acuity Funding was founded by Ranjit in the mid-1990s to help fellow business owners and property developers with their finance needs.
Throughout his career Ranjit has worked as a paymaster for various major listed companies handling a variety of commodity transactions. From his position working as a paymaster, he has been trusted by various funds to work in the role of Mortgage Manager, helping to invest funds into large-scale commercial and infrastructure projects and managing the funds on behalf of his investors.
He is a former owner and director of National Brokers Group and a co-founder, former Director and shareholder of Vow Financial, which was acquired by Yellow Brick Road in 2014.
Ranjit is an avid hiker, a passion that has taken him to Nepal, New Zealand, Africa, Papua New Guinea and Vietnam.
Philanthropy is also important to Ranjit and he is a strong believer in the importance of “paying forward”. He has been involved in many charitable causes over the years and is currently involved in securing vaccine supplies to developing countries.
